POPPIES by Amelia Gilmore

Poppies bracelet

I was determined to get the abstract poppy shape just right, forming, hammering, reticulating the silver for that natural texture and positioning the little balls in the centre. The poppies are chunky but they are held together with delicate twig-like pieces of wire, allowing for some movement. It was quite nerve-wracking assembling the flowers in this bracelet as I had to connect two flowers at a time with a piece of wire and then melt the end into a ball with the hottest part of the torch's flame to secure them. Then I had to work round doing this until they were all joined and take care not to melt the rest of the piece.

Poppy ring

One of my favourite rings, I love the way the poppy sits on the side, really makes a statement.

I've made a few commissions of this bracelet and here it is being worn at a significant moment!
